{"id":119088,"date":"2019-02-06T00:00:23","date_gmt":"2019-02-06T05:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.travelpress.com\/?p=119088"},"modified":"2019-02-06T09:14:27","modified_gmt":"2019-02-06T14:14:27","slug":"ticos-new-awareness-campaign-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.travelpress.com\/ticos-new-awareness-campaign-underway\/","title":{"rendered":"TICO&#8217;s New Awareness Campaign Underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/TICO-logo-600-July19.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-111543\" src=\"https:\/\/www.travelpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/TICO-logo-600-July19.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.travelpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/TICO-logo-600-July19.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.travelpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/TICO-logo-600-July19-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Travel Industry Council of Ontario\u2019s (TICO) new Consumer Awareness campaign is in full swing, informing consumers about Ontario\u2019s regulated travel industry.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign, which was launched in December, incorporates a fresh, new approach that is entirely digital-based.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTICO chose to focus on the digital space for this campaign because the Internet is a high-traffic area for researching travel destinations and finding information,\u201d says Richard Smart,<\/p>\n<p>president and CEO for TICO. \u201cMore and more consumers are researching trips and vacations online.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>TICO\u2019s campaign features videos that are now showing on YouTube, social media posts and banner ads on various websites targeting specific demographics, based on their travel behaviours.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, video ads are running in the Toronto PATH system and at Dundas Square in Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>The star of the campaign is the Asterisk, which flags the message that TICO-registered travel agencies and websites can provide the necessary details needed for travelling. The intent is to make<\/p>\n<p>sure that all travellers understand that they must book with a TICO-registered travel agency, website in order to benefit from Ontario\u2019s strict consumer protection laws should something affect their travel plans.<\/p>\n<p>TICO-registered travel agencies and websites are asked to make sure that the TICO logo or registration number is prominently displayed on their website, social media accounts and marketing materials.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Travel Industry Council of Ontario\u2019s (TICO) new Consumer Awareness campaign is in full swing, informing consumers about Ontario\u2019s regulated travel industry.
